Canadian skating champion Barbara Ann Scott Died

TORONTO (AP): The Barbara Ann Scott died at the age of 84 on Sunday, she is the only Canadian woman who has won the Olympic title in women’s figure skating at the 1948 Games.

The death of Scott was confirmed by the Skate Canada, and the cause of death is not revealed yet. Barbara Ann has also won the Lou Marsh Trophy for three times as Canada’s top athlete in 1945, 1947, and 1948. The Scott was inducted into Hall of Fame of Canada Sports in 1955, as well as in the Canadian Figure Skating Hall of Fame in 1991.

The Barbara Scott had also remained the officer of the Order of Canada in 1991. She was also inducted into the International Women’s Sports Hall of Fame in 1997, and again was named to Walk of Fame in 1998. She carried the Olympic torch into the house of Commons in 2009 while its journey to Vancouver for the Winter Games 2010.
